Civil Air Patrol (CAP) Cadet Award Presentation

It was Rudy Smart’s and my privilege to attend this year’s awards ceremony for the Charleston Squadron of CAP on Monday, December 15th. While the highlight of the evening is the awards presentation to the outstanding cadets in the squadron, the delight factor was raised many notches by the presence of Major General James E. Livingston, USMC (Ret.), Medal of Honor recipient.

Held at the Charleston Club on the Air Force Base, the event was emceed by Colonel Robert Townsend and flowed smoothly from a dedication of the POW/MIA table, to opening prayer, introduction of the guests of honor, meal, awards and a rousing speech to the cadets by Gen Livingston.

Rudy presented our chapter’s Certificate of Excellence to Cadet Michael Greco. This was one of several awards that Cadet Greco won. An outstanding cadet at CAP, Michael is also a member of Wando High School’s Air Force JROTC.
