Military Ball and Awards Ceremony

I was the presenter of MOAA JROTC awards at Cane Bay High School on Saturday 23 April 2016.  This was the 8^th annual AFJROTC awards ceremony and the 3^rd annual military ball for Cane Bay.

I arrived at 6:00 PM and was met by my assigned cadet escort for the evening, Cadet Landon Wong, who was also part of the color guard.  We had reserved seats at a table in the front row of the of the school cafeteria.  Cane Bay has 158 cadets in the AFJROTC unit.  Most wore their uniforms, while some of the female cadets wore formal party gowns.

After dinner, the guest speaker, Mr. Gaskins, noted that in his many years of participating in various ROTC affairs, Cane Bay High School is the best he has ever observed.

After the local school recognitions were made, national awards were presented as the last category of the awards ceremony.  I presented our MOAA medal and certificate to Cadet Wong and our Outstanding Cadet Award, certificate and $50 check, to Cadet Kaitlyn O’Melia.  This part of the program ended at 8:00 PM. I departed leaving the cadets to party on!

The evening was well organized and nicely attended by cadets, dates, and relatives.
