Burke Army JROTC
Burke High School Army JROTC
Awards Ceremony & Dinner
28 March, 1800

The Burke High School JROTC Awards Banquet started in it's usual format. The event begins when everyone is asked to leave the room and reenter by passing the receiving line made up of the head table group. That group was made up of C/LTC Marcus Evans, Major John Dunmyer, and his wife; SFC Vanderhorst, and his wife; Mr Raphael James the guest speaker, C/CPL Hasante Kita, and Cadet Tiffany Lewis.

The colors were presented and posted. Then the national anthem was played on a saxophone by Dondre' Smith, a band member.

A welcome address was presented by C/CPL Hasante Kita, followed by the invocation by C/PFC Oren Brown Jr. After toasting the President, and the US Army and ROTC leadership, the Guest speaker, Mr Raphael James, a news anchor for WCSC Live Five News gave a motivational speech to all present.

While many awards were presented, there were only two presenters from outside of the campus family. I presented a MOAA medal and certificate to Cadet Corporal Hasaute Kita, and a chapter certificate and a check for $50 to Cadet Sergeant Violet Simmons.

After closing remarks by Major Dunmyer and C/LTC Marcus Evans, The colors were retired and dinner was served. There was a disc jockey available for dancing after dinner.

This was my fourth time and continued honor to present for MOAA
